Dominik Janssen
During his master's degree in industrial engineering at KIT, Dominik Janssen worked intensively on aerospace engineering, game theory and machine learning. During this time, he worked at Lufthansa Technik AG and implemented evaluation tools for ongoing processes to drive continuous process improvement. Following his Master's degree, he began a PhD in Process Analytics with Prof. Koschmider at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel. During this time, he actively supported Prof. Koschmider in the establishment of the newly founded chair and supervised students in the field of process mining. With the support of Prof. Koschmider, Dominik took up a position at the University of Bayreuth in September 2022 and continues his academic career here.
Dominik Janssen's research focuses on developing and implementing a concept that combines various machine learning techniques to discover process models from low-level IoT sensor data. The results are then to be validated with suitable metrics. In previous projects, he has worked on converting sensor data from smart homes and wearables into process models consisting of daily activities. The knowledge gained is now being further developed in collaboration with industry partners in order to optimise production processes and implement predictive maintenance.
